SPARC to Launch Knappsack, Open Source Mobile Application Management and Distribution Platform
Insight
SPARC announces that Knappsack, a mobile application management and distribution platform, will launch as an open source project and paid service at a launch event on September 26
SPARC, a Best Place to Work Winner, is set to release Knappsack, a mobile application management (MAM) platform, at an online event on September 26. Launching as both an open source project and paid service, Knappsack makes it easier for organizations to manage and distribute mobile applications across multiple devices than traditional methods.
Knappsack is a full mobile application managementplatform that helps organizations securely deploy digital assets. As the mobile industry moves towards a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model, Knappsack provides technology needed to manage the freedom of distributing applications across multiple devices.
"As more and more organizations embrace the BYOD model, the need for supporting technology has greatly increased. Now, organizations looking for an MAM solution can use Knappsack to provide a simple and secure method for deploying applications to multiple devices while maintaining control over their assets," said Dayel Ostraco, SPARC Mobile Evangelist.
Knappsack will be released as an open source project on GitHub, which will allow developers to freely download and use the platform at their organizations, plus contribute features and code back to the project. SPARC's embracement of the open source methodology is part of its culture, so releasing Knappsack as an open source project is natural step.
"Because we used open source components to develop Knappsack, we want to give back to the community and give other developers a chance to contribute to Knappsack. In the end, this contribution to the open source community will help Knappsack become the most feature-rich mobile application management tool in the market," said Bob Williams, SPARC CTO.
Knappsack will also be available as a paid service, which will provide a turnkey solution to organizations that need to deploy to multiple devices and desktops, such as iOS, Android, OSX, Windows, and more without going through tradition stores. Through strong, closed-loop security, Knappsack safely manages digital assets for individuals and groups within an organization.
Join the Knappsack team on September 26 at 1 p.m. ET for a free online launch event. The session will feature a MAM discussion and full demo of the Knappsack platform and several giveaways. Information will be provided on how download, use, and contribute to the open source version.
